Kurdish refugees now farming to feed families
Refugees who are living in the Girshin sub-district of Duhok province are now farming tracts of land to feed their families and sell any remaining produce at local markets.
"We came here as refugees. Now, we are farming. It is better than sitting idle and asking for help," said a refugee from Shingal.
The program has proved so productive Girshin, which is located in Semeil district, is planning to give work to 50 refugee families in these farms. The refugee families are expected to harvest nearly 50 tons of produce daily and sell it in the local markets of Duhok province.
