ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – Over the Eid-al Fitr holiday, customers enjoyed freshly brewed coffee in a bus-turned-café in Erbil.

“The Bus Café Erbil” is run by Kani Jalil, a 22-year old Kurdish woman, and her husband Jedar. The converted bus is cozy, with five tables, a small library, and capacity for 25 people.

Kani and Jedar, along three of their friends originally opened The Bus Café in Sulaimani last summer. The Erbil location debuted six months later. Though, the two branches are no longer connected.

The café serves espresso-based drinks, as well as Siphon and Chemex brewed coffees, and a selection of desserts.

Although it is technically mobile, the bus remains stationary on Mosul Road, next to Sami Abdulrahman Park, and is open daily from 4 pm to midnight.
