Unlike the other 110 MPs who entered the parliament on Tuesday for the first session after the September 30 election, a KDP MP chose to arrive on a bicycle.
"My message is clear," said Jalal Pareshan, who is also a sports commentator at his Kurdistan Sports Channel and was a former member of the Erbil Provincial Council. "The people of Kurdistan must know why I chose to go to the parliament using bicycle."
Pareshan had placed a small box on the back of the cycle named 'The Complaint Box.’
"My message for the destitute and suffering people is that we are becoming a direct bridge between the authority and people inside the parliament," he said.
Pareshan managed to obtain a large number of votes in Erbil.
Speaking to reporters at the parliament, he said he rejects the parliament salary, pension and bonuses and any other privileges.
"The parliament is the highest legislative and lawmaking body in Kurdistan and we are chosen to serve the people," he said.
