Mount Korek in Erbil province has become a favorite destination for many tourists from the Kurdistan Region and across Iraq. Local officials say that this year's early snows draw more visitors to the mountain than the area did in summer.
This has helped local markets and businesses such as restaurants. The Korek mountaintop could be reached by cable-car which gives the visitor a stunning view of the area.
