Last month, over a thousand people from northeast Syria (Rojava) migrated to the Kurdistan Region’s Duhok province.

Baradarash camp in Duhok province hosts 4,500 migrants from different parts of Syria. Most of them fled insecurity, economic crisis and unemployment following the 2011 uprising against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s regime. Of this, 1,222 arrived without permission earlier this year.

The newly-arrived told Rudaw last month that they had not received stoves or oil to for heating. However, Aram Hadi, head of the camp, told Rudaw on Saturday that they have provided the migrants with all their needs for winter, adding that they are doing their best to facilitate their paperwork.

Over 450 of the newly-arrived migrants came alone. Between three and five people are living in a single tent.
