ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Flights between airports in the Kurdistan Region and Tehran are set to resume on Friday, a source told Rudaw. Flights were halted on Tuesday when Iran launched missiles at Israel and regional countries closed their airspace.

"There are flights to Tehran from Erbil and Sulaimani international airports tomorrow," Hazhar Arif, head of Ayan Air travel agency in Erbil, said on Thursday, adding the decision was made this morning and tickets can be sold.

Iran’s civil aviation announced the resumption of flights at the country’s airports on Thursday “after ensuring favorable and safe flight conditions.”

On Wednesday, the Iraqi transportation ministry spokesperson Maytham al-Safi announced that the country’s airspace had reopened to civilian flights.

Iraq’s transportation ministry on Tuesday night closed the country’s airspace due to a significant escalation in regional tensions after Iran fired around 200 ballistic missiles toward Israel.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said the attack was in response to the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, and IRGC commander Abbas Nilforoushan.
