Gunmen kill prominent Arab provincial official in Kirkuk
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – A prominent Arab provincial official in Kirkuk was killed and his wife wounded by unidentified gunmen late Tuesday, a police official told Rudaw.
Brig. Sarhad Qadir, chief of Kirkuk's districts and sub-districts police, said that the attack on Mohammad Khalil, a prominent member of the Kirkuk Provincial Council, took place on his car.
"At around 8:20 several gunmen opened fire on Mohammed Khalil's vehicle, killing him and wounding his wife," Qadir told Rudaw.
“Khalil was head of the Arabic bloc in the Kirkuk provincial council," Qadir said. "Police have launched manhunt to to arrest the killers."
