Bombed Qandil villagers: 'We have nothing left"

Residents of Zargali village on the outskirts of the Qandil Mountains have called upon the Kurdistan Regional Government to help secure their homes that were bombed Saturday, leading to the deaths of nine people.

Villagers who spoke to Rudaw said they wanted no part of any dispute between Turkey and the Kurdistan Workers' Party.

"We are civilians and innocent people with no weapons in hand. We are not part of the long-period of conflict between PKK and Turkey," said one local resident.

"Therefore, we are strongly condemning the recent bombardments."

The villager said the livelihoods and homes of the locals have been destroyed, leaving them with nothing to return to.
