Erbil businesses, mainly restaurants are seeing a boom in sales and profit. Some restaurant owners report a 30% increase in profits this year.
A restaurateur said 2018 alone was better than all the three preceding years.
The reason is an ease in a financial crisis that had gripped the Kurdistan Region and the end of Iraq’s costly war with ISIS.
Erbil’s restaurants and their rich menu of Kurdish cuisine such as Qozi, Qala Kharman, goose, turkey and gazelle meat are one of the main draws of the city to tourists visiting from Iraq or the neighboring countries.
