On its 7th anniversary, Rudaw is committed to its founding principles

Today, May 29, 2020 marks the seventh anniversary of Rudaw Media Network. Across multiple media platforms, including radio, 24-hour television broadcast, online and social media, Rudaw is a gateway of reliable information about Kurdistan, the region, and the world. It has always given space and platform of talks among the different viewpoints. It has has always conveyed the plights of people.

Rudaw Media Network strives every day to impart news and information on the basis of bearing witness and being on the ground. We are proud of our motto; "News For People," which reminds to fulfill our commitment to building trust with our audience.

In these seven years, Rudaw has evolved into an important source of news from Kurdistan and the region to international agencies and world centers of power. Today, on the anniversary of its first broadcast, Rudaw Media Network renews its vow to deliver precise, up-to-date coverage and information, and providing a fair space to different voices through its media platforms.

During its field work, Rudaw has faced many difficulties. On the very same day, we honor and remember the journalists who are no longer with us: martyr Shifa Gardi, who lost her life while reporting on the military campaign in Mosul in February 2017; and our reporter Farhad Hemo, who was kidnapped in December 2014.

Rudaw's first emissions began on April 5, 2008 through the publication of a website and newspaper. In 2013, it was expanded into a multimedia network. Today, Rudaw Media Network has established itself as a well-known media outlet on a regional and international level.

Rudaw is continually working to adapt to the changing needs of an evolving media environment through technological advancements. In the future, these developments will continue to grow. Just like the advanced European and American TV channels, Rudaw has embarked on using automation gallery system over the past months, the first of its kind used across the Middle East as a news channel. This has been viewed as a success story by media-related companies.

On this day, Rudaw pays respect to the hard work of each and every one of its colleagues. We also thank those who have contributed to making our work and developments possible. We kindly appreciate all those who contribute to the work of Rudaw Media Network and welcome their feedback.
