Peshmerga receive Red Carpet salute at Cannes

A delegation from the Kurdistan Region’s Peshmerga ministry arrived at the Cannes Film Festival

They were invited to the festival for the screening of a documentary about the Peshmerga, which was written and directed by Bernard-Henri Levy.

The Kurdish delegation and filmmakers were welcomed by the General Delegate of the festival, Thierry Fremaux.

Two Peshmerga commanders, Sirwan Barzani and Sheikh Jaffar Mustafa, presented the Kurdistan Region’s logo to Fremaux, and pinned a Kurdish flag on him.

Hundreds of viewers were expected to attend the screening of the film.
 
The head of The Cannes Film Festival expressed his appreciation to Rudaw Media Network for covering the festival.

Bernard-Henri Levy, the documentary’s director, told Rudaw that the festival had asked for the film to be screened.
 
Kurdish actress and singer Helly luv who also acted in the documentary was among the delegation.

The Kurdish delegation and film staff received the red carpet treatment at the festival.
 
The presenter especially called on the Peshmerga to walk the red carpet.

The documentary about the Peshmerga drew attention at the festival, with the film showing real footage of Peshmerga troops fighting ISIS.

The screening of the film was extended for a second day.
