Music feeds the soul but not the belly for Rojava artist

Saeed Ferso is a singer, musician, and composer from Qamishli, Rojava.

He has played the saz, a string instrument from the tanbur family, since childhood. He has also taught music and composed 50 to 60 songs in both Kurdish and Arabic.

Like many other musicians, Ferso finds it hard to make a living from his art. He has had to pick up a new profession in order to provide for his family.

“Music does not feed us,” he said.
