ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - A Kurdish teenager has earned a UEFA B coaching certificate and become the head coach of an under-15 Norwegian women’s football team. Lanya Qais Blbas, 17, has earned a UEFA B coaching certificate and is now head coach of Klemetsrud IL Fotball’s under-15 women’s team. She is also set to become deputy head of youth at the Oslo Football Association. "It is a great honor for me to coach in Europe as a Kurdish girl and teach football to Norwegian and European women," she told Rudaw on Thursday, thanking her father and family for their support. Her father, Qais Blbas, a veteran athlete from Erbil, said he was proud of her achievements. "I am sure that she is a talented Kurdish coach and is the pride of every Kurd," he said. Blbas is also taking part in a program to train future coaches. "She will be appointed by the Oslo Football Association to visit clubs to meet and supervise," her father said. She is set to take on a key role in developing coaching at Klemetsrud IL Fotball, which supports 500 children and young people in Søndre Nordstrand.
