ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) fired three drones at a village near Soran in Erbil province in the early hours of Thursday wounding one Peshmerga, two security sources told Rudaw English. The attack on a location belonging to the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran (KDPI) in the outskirts of Soran came hours after Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held indirect talks with the American negotiators about a possible end to the war. A source told Rudaw that three drones targeted a location in the village of Dilizian at around 2am on Thursday, while a KDPI official confirmed the attack, which caused one minor injury to a Peshmerga fighter of the dissident group. “The drones were fired from the Iranian side near Haji Omaran border crossing,” the security source told Rudaw English. The KDPI official confirmed that one of the locations belonging to the group was targeted near Soran overnight on condition of anonymity due to not being authorized to speak to the media. The IRGC and its affiliated militias in Iraq have targeted the Kurdistan Region with over 1,000 missiles and drones since February 28 when the US and Israel launched an aerial campaign against Iran targeting over 13,000 locations across the country, including members of Iran's senior leadership. The bases of the Kurdish opposition groups, the bases of the Kurdistan Regional government (KRG) Peshmerga forces and even civilian infrastructure - including the residence of several prominent officials - have been targeted by the IRGC and its affiliated Iraqi militias, despite Kurdish leaders having affirmed that the Kurdistan Region is not a party to the Iran-US conflict. Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi submitted a six-point proposal with plans to disarm the IRGC-affiliated factions operating within Iraq by the end of June 2027, a senior official within the ruling Shiite-led Coordination Framework told Rudaw on Tuesday.
