ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Several drones were intercepted over Erbil late Wednesday. No material damage or casualties have been reported.
Footage submitted to Rudaw shows an air defense system intercepting projectiles in the skies over the Kurdish capital.
Rudaw has learned that the attack was carried out with at least four one-way attack drones, with all being intercepted.
According to Rudaw's records, Iran and its aligned groups in Iraq have struck the Kurdistan Region with at least 929 drones since the war began. The cross-border attacks have killed 30 people and injured 148 others. Nearly 56 drones and missiles hit the Region in the first three weeks of July.
The Kurdistan Region has declared its neutrality, calling for restraint and dialogue to resolve the conflict. Iraq and the Kurdistan Region have both incurred massive financial damage as a result of the war.
On Wednesday, following a weekly cabinet meeting, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) reiterated its condemnation of Iran's continued attacks on the Kurdistan Region.
"Such attacks take as their target not only the security and stability of the Kurdistan Region, but the stability of the whole region," the Kurdish government said in a statement.
"The Council of Ministers reiterates that it has not been part of the war or the tensions in the region, having always worked to remain a factor of stability, peace and security, so we want the attacks to end," it added.
