ERBIL, Kurdistan Region — Dana Gas announced on Wednesday its highest records of gas production at the Kurdistan Region’s Khor Mor gas plant in Sulaimani province.

Dana Gas, which has been producing natural gas in the Kurdistan Region since 2007, said that Pearl Petroleum’s Khor Mor plant delivered a record high of 418 million standard cubic feet (MMscf/d)  per day on 18 November 2020.

“Dana Gas, which owns a 35 percent stake in Pearl Petroleum, registered a 6 percent year on year increase in production during the third quarter of 2020 to 32,400 boepd [barrels of oil equivalent per day], driven by the completion of a new plant bypass project in August,” it said in a statement.

“This important achievement, delivered under difficult conditions due to the global pandemic, was the result of the installation of the plant bypass in August combined with an increase in gas demand due to seasonal weather conditions,” said Dana Gas CEO Patrick Allman-Ward.

He also discussed the preparation of the implementation of the first 250 MMscf/d gas processing train project in the coming weeks.

“We now expect first gas from the project’s first gas processing train in Q1 2023 and we are also examining ways to reduce the schedule further,” he added. “When implemented, the project is expected to add between $175 million and $200 million annually to Dana Gas’s revenues.”

Dana Gas, which previously produced 400 million MMscf/d at Khor Mor, plans to increase its natural gas production to 650 million cubic meters per day in 2020 and 900 million cubic meters of natural gas daily by 2023, after announcing its plans to increase investment in the Kurdistan Region back in October.

The UAE-based company, linked to Crescent Petroleum, has been operating in the Kurdistan Region since the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) began producing oil and gas independently of Baghdad in 2007, and selling independently in 2013.

“Dana Gas is the Middle East’s first and largest regional private sector natural gas Company established in December 2005 with a public listing on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX). It has exploration and production assets in Egypt, Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) and UAE, with 2P reserves exceeding one billion barrels of oil equivalent (boe) and average production of 66,200 boepd in 2019,” according to its website.
